Sir Bannalots Holiday

Author File Description
Dragons Rider
File Details
Map Size: 400x400 (Large)
Difficulty: Hard
Minimap:
How unsporting of them! Just when you were beginning to enjoy yourself your old enemies had to come and ruin it all. You, Sir Bannalot, had been enjoying some quiet rest, when they decided to attack you while you where in your summer residence, an old fort of wood.
Outlying troops were called in, but there was not nearly enough of them. So the Wolf seized the advantage and built a very hasty fort. By the time the invasions come the whole thing will fall down.
This would be a long and bloody battle, with little hope left remaining. Desperate, you send out dispatches for bandits and mercenaries. They will now come too late. Those that come to our aid will cut off, soon to perish. Yet some will lurk in the shadows, waiting and watching for a weakness and an opening in both sides. Then they will strike…….

SIR BANNALOT! TO ARMS! THEY ARE UPON US!

Hello again. Its me! *widespread applause*. (I know, that sounds vain). I’ve taken a little brak from reviewing to make some more maps. This I hope will be the first of many. Took me the better part of 2 weeks to make. Opinions from all are welcome. :)

Thanks! You're right. Got the idea from a MMORPG I play where one of the rule enforcers name is Banmore.

A piece of advise:
Concentrate on making archers, save your knights for when they bring out the siege stuff.
Also, protect the lord at all times. If you go out to destroy the barracks after invasions, there will be a bandit attack. Have him well protected.
:End Spoiler:
Snake115 u gave too much stuff at beginning ( wont tell what but they make pain )

it was hard even on easy lol... because of the short and only path to forest

Firstly I want to say that even though I enjoyed this very creative map, I unfortunately found it to be rather... random. I'd advise you; Dragons Rider to keep things 'clean' in the future. There are alot of ruins, fortresses and whatnot, as well as a peculiar scripting. You begin with very little resources... and you can build almost every building in the game... I was in the beginning, very unsure of what to do. Should I build buildings, or was this map about to build soldiers? I eventually built soldiers though. It was also confusing with the little fortress in the corner... that was very random and unessecary, frankly.
That was the bad part, and trust me, its not a big part of the map, so don't worry. I like the fast pace; you have to do things quickly in order to win. You have to manage your army in the right way, or else you're dead. Though... I do find this map a bit too easy.

Balance: 4
I won this map on the first try, but I did sweat a little though. You begin with very mixed resources and I suppose its just to use them in the right way. You have to be smart in order to win this map I suppose... but still a tad disapointing. Still a good map though.

Definately the strongest part of this map. What can I say, i love the design of the village/city. Its a cool bridge, and moat as well as outer defence. The fortresses and ruins looks random as said before, but I can't deny they're excellently made. You managed to build alot of neat stuff with wooden objects(like the mine for example). Good job on this part.

Map Design: 5
What I said about the surroundings, also comes into this section. Additionally, the terraining is excellent too... I would prefer maybe more rocks, stones and dirt on the ground to make it look more realistic, but I still like it alot. I also like the snow, that was nice touch -But I think it wasn't placed realisticly. Still, good job on that, I myself have never even made snow.
Though I think its because of the advanced terraining, that I found my computor running really slow when playing this map. That's not your fault but its worth mentioning.
But to put things shortly: you did a good job here too.

Story/Instructions: 3
The weakest part in this otherwise play-worthy map. There are grammar flaws, as well as just plain spelling errors... and it was too short. Work more on this in the future, because I hope to see more from you.

Additional Comments:
Most of this is just c&c... its a good map, and I might have said too much bad about it =x
sorry 'bout that, I suppose this is more of an eyecandy map (I haven't really scored accordingly to all things i've said either, so its no problem...). Good luck on your future maps. I'll be looking foward to them. Keep up your creative spirit.

Thanks Dougelass. I have a fascination with wooden things, as well as ruins. Guess thats why you see them pop up randomly. Dont worry about saying bad things about a map, i dont take offense, it'll show me where I went wrong (as long as you put in something good :p). Anyone else want to give their opinion?
