Oblivion: Anvil

Author File Description
Riskyman
File Details
Map Size: 300x300 (Medium)
Difficulty: Hard
Minimap:
You are the King of Anvil. After the many years of war against the Dadrea, you are finally at peace until one of the citys controlled by the wolf gets a little to greedy.

This map is based on Anvil in The game Oblivion as you can plainly see. You are give a small force to control to defend the city. Also, try not to move all of your troops to the main keep unless you lose over and over, the keep was ment for the remaining troops to hold out as long as possible. Enjoy

Hints
1. Use your pitch wisley you'll need it.
2. Put traps in the less defended areas of the castle.

Well, the playability was very good.
Having only a small limited amount of pich map the map abit more...interesting.
The starting invasion was realy big, and i personaly like big long invasions.
But... i did think that th einvasion lasted a bit too long;but other than that, the playability was pretty good.

Balance: 4
The balance was pretty good.
You/I had enough troops defending during the starting invasion, that the enemy didn't go though the castle as quick, or as slow as it would with to many or to few troops.

The pitch was a great help at evening out the odds, but... it made it to easy to kill the troops when they try to break though to the keep by going through th esmall and narrow passage way to the keep.

Creativity: 4
I personaly thought that the creativity was pretty good. The castle had a good amount of eye candy that didnt affect the preformance of the map.(the lowerd walls.)
Th edock was also appealing, and it just seemed to fit in nicly with the terrain.

Map Design: 3
Well, the map design was pretty good, bu tit had some faults. The first though thtat i had when i looked at the castle was,"man... i cant ealy see inside the castle." Because of all the walls and towers in the castle, it made it hard to realy see whats inside the castle other than the walls and towers.

The terrain was pretty good too, but it seemed to be lackin something. There was plenty of little details that were in the map, but the overall map seemed bare. Now mabey it's suppoced to be that way, but i'm am asuming that it wasnt intendid.(I am sorry if it was.)

Story/Instructions: 3
Well, like i've said in all my other reviews, i am not quite the best at judging other peoples stroies, but i'll try my best anyways.
The stroy seemed to short, and i thought that you could have been a bit more descriptive. You also might want to explain thing more in depth; fo those who don't know what your talking about.( I didn't quite get the story myself.)

Additional Comments: Overal, i thought that the map was pretty good. The lowered walls and the dock brought some...spice to the map. The castle looked pretty good,(from what i could see), and the terrain was pretty good.
The only thing that i realy didn't like was the shrub/hedges towards the bottom-left of the map; near the one hovel.

thanks for the review airboy, and also, the shrubs at the bottom of the map were supposed to create a farm and you can press the space button to help you with the inner castle.
Also, with the terrain, it was intended, I wanted the outside of the map to look like plains insstead of a forest or something like that.

airboy80 well, i am sorry that I miss-interpeted the map, but things happen.
Anyways, it was a very good map.

Playability: 5
Very good playability, I love the balanced amount of pitch as too much can always make a map too easy for an experienced player.
It felt like a drawn out siege to me, wich is a plus on my side, cool playability!

Balance: 4
Pretty good balance.
A good number of troops for defending the first invasions. I agree with airboy80 that the pitch was a great help at evening out the odds, but I think it's just right and you must use it right to win so it's not misplaced.

Good show of skills and a beutiful castle, it captures the Oblivion city in perfection within Stronghold limits. Brilliant. It only doesn't warrant a straight 5 because I know what is possible to get out of the map editor, and while everything is very well polished, there are a couple things that can be improved. This is a compiment!

Map Design: 5
Flawless, captures the feel of the oblivion level to perfection. As for the tight walls you can press "space" to flat out the terrain for arranging your troops.

Story/Instructions: 4
Not a 5 only for it being based from another source, but you included enough info on it as not to let people out of context. Very good!

Additional Comments:
Keep this up it's great!
