ElvenKinght, just a little tip for you: when you create a map in the editor you have a choice of the type of map it will be.
So far, you've made two maps and created them in the editor as "invasions" while in fact, neither are. You first one was an economic mission (if I remember correctly) and this one was a pure siege - not an invasion in sight.
That's not a major problem but you really should correct it. When a player downloads a map marked as an invasion, that is the type of map they expect to play. Some people play economic and/or sieges only - and they would never bother with your maps since they are labeled incorrectly.
But other than that, they do play and are worth at least one or two goes at them. :) |

Playability: 3
I thought i'd review one map of this new campaign, with a name that I like a lot. Darkness of Lustar.
Well, there are no bugs here, and you have to run around and kill soldiers in some kind of swamp which is kinda fun I(for a while...). I have to say though, it has no replay value, something that the review guidelines say you should note. The goal to eliminate all the enemy soldiers is what makes this map rather boring. It takes some time to do it, and it's really not that fun, there could've been something else added to this map. Maybe it could've been a cede, where you have to build a village after killing the lord?
Balance: 5
I personally think this is the strongest point. The winning condition drags the map down, but while you're at it, the balance is really good. I found myself having my last pikeman along with my swordman, killed when the lord reached red hp! It was really cool, and I killed him off with my remaining archers.
Creativity: 3
I think some ideas you have in the map to make it look more swamp-like really works and gives a perfect atmosphere. The general idea in the map is one that you don't see every day, either.
Map Design: 2
This needs a lot of work. It doesn't really look realistic, more rocks above everything, would make it look better. It's hard to teach how it can look better, so I just suggest you should look at 'spotlight on design' on the main site. Look in the 'map 101' link. I've learned a lot there, myself.
Story/Instructions: 2
This is a generous 2, because there is very little story, and the little you have is somewhat badly written. Just pracite a lot on writing, and write a nice story, and one a little bit larger than this one, and i'm sure you'll get a better score here.
Additional Comments:
The designer needs a little practice, but it look promising. There are also 12 maps still to go, if there'll really be 14 maps in this campaign.
Will be interesting to see your progress. |
