STORY
--------
After the King of the Outlaws dies, there is a joyous feast celebrating his final victory. Jallo must now move further north, and the outlaws are unable to accompany him so far. His men soon grow tired and weak as the cold grows harsher and rations grow slim. Jallo needs something next to a miracle to help him in this hour of need.
He finds it. Before him one day he finds a large hill with a wall stretching across it, a place where shelter can be found and food can be obtained. After walking the walls, he founds his coat of arms on a tattered flag. This wall was once his father's castle. Now it lies abandoned.
He has a fort now, but that does not mean he is saved. The Pig could attack at anytime from anywhere, and it is too cold to grow food. Wolves abound here, there is not much timber to be found, and the land is desolate. It will be a cold stay at Alvod's castle.

This map took ages to release. After playing it once I don't know why this was. I think it was because I wanted to guarantee that something happened exactly how I wanted it, but that wasn't possible.
If you find this level hard (which is likely), save a little bit before the last attack. I found it possible to hold off the last attack with about 30 archers and 10 spearmen.
Have fun! And please review! Your comments are appreciated. |

Hey mate I just tried out your map. It's really tough I'm playing on v.hard. And I can't get even pass the first attack, sometimes even the bandits kill me if I lose people toying with the wolves. I tried all sorts of things: selling the entire wall for gold and making a quarry in the very beginning. And I come with about 50 archers and die is there any solid strategy because I want to beat it on max and the map is starting to tick me off. |

HINT - for those who wish not to have a hint, please do not read this!
Ah, fifty archers to start on the first attack, very hard...interesting. Well, here's what I can tell you. It may be that there is an advantage to bulldozing the wall and rebuilding, or leaving it alone. Leaving the wall allows you to spread out the enemy attack for the first attack. If the enemy comes at you from the wrong side, then you will either have to bulldoze the wall, rebuild, or use palisades as a temporary measure. Either way for any attack, I found that quite a solid defense could be made out of placing ALL archers in a certain tower, and walling off around the campfire and not including a gate, with a perimeter wall around whatever town you've built. If that still doesn't work, I don't know what to do exactly, as I tested this map on normal. I'm tempted to think that very hard is possible, but I suppose I should play it first before I say that. HOWEVER, what I must say, is that I never really thought about selling the stone and probably would not advocate it. If it is for archers, perhaps it would be a good cause, but you WILL need some if not most of the stone for building a proper defense. When you choose to bulldoze the wall and build that defense is up to you and a crucial part of your strategy. |

Dude this map drove me insane. I played it on normal and survived the invasions but lost all my popularity. It's not that hard but after many tries I started to get irritated and lost control of things. I'll rate it somewhere in the weekend because I seriously need to chill out. |

Just to say that I played this map and had a most enjoyable game.
I got beat first time on Hard and decided I could not win on Hard. So I played again on Normal. It is still very challenging on Normal, particularly in regards to the economy. I had to finely balance things. The limits on production and at market made things tricky. Very tricky. But ultimately rewarding :) I felt I was really earning my victory.
I would think the average player would need to start out on easy with this one.
As it has already been discussed above, I will reveal that, for the second play, I scrapped the parts of the wall I did not need and constructed a nice tight little castle.[Edited on 12/30/07 @ 05:25 PM]

The last invasion is really hard if you keep the wall in place as you get "squished" by the two invasions at the same time. |
