Against Thee Wickedly

Author File Description
Lord Blood Hawk
File Details
Map Size: 300x300 (Medium)
Difficulty: Normal
"...they speak against thee wickedly, my liege. The heretics must be smited by the Lord God. We are his hands, the instruments that shall sever the wicked..."

Anyways, this map is a Stronghold Invasion with economic goals. Normal mode:
3000 gold
100 Wheat
Fear Factor: 3 Cruel
1% Blessed

You play as a lord ruling over a small estate. You and your council are religious fanatics that must gather supplies to fund future campaigns. You'll have to punish your faithless subjects and protect the holy church in your castle from destruction (or the delete tool, heh. The latter the more likely, of course) The Snake will send you some reinforcements early on to help you out in the battle ahead (credit goes to Brave Sir Robin for his "Blue and Yellow Ally" utility map in the downloads section of Read the .txt file for story and hints. Have fun. Or not. Your choice, really. :D

You have a multiple strategies to chose from, but only few will lead you to victory. First I decided to build a strong army, but I soon realized that this was not the way. Than I tried to aquire the goals as soon as possible, but I wasnt quick enough. To be honest the map is done so good that you can not finish too soon. So I tried to do it 50/50 (army/economy). I was producing archers, because they win the fight here. It was a hard fight, but I finally managed to win (the inns helped a lot:). The playability was a bit limited as because you had to concentrate on the waves of enemy and couldnt rest or enjoy the times of peace.

Balance: 4
I think this is a strong point. First I thought that my troops are too powerful for such a small enemy groups, but than I discovered, that the enemy just keeps on coming. Maybe the enemy is too strong in the latter invasions and after he dig through to you "backyard" you are lost.

There are no events in the scenario! Pity. I liked the enemy messages and also that there was more than one of them, but as I mentioned before, twas a bit chaotic because of the coming invasions.

Map Design: 4.5
Very good. I liked all the stuff you´ve done on the map. I just missed the bushes and animals (except the deer). The castle was fine, but I would like it be more inventive.

Yeah! I liked the idea :) Being someone bad! In fact - being a fanatic! Even better!

Overall, this map was very enjoyable and playable. What I did was concentrater on crossbows and archers, then when I had the front wall covered with them, focus on the wheat and gold. The inns help, but I did not use them much.

There was a small glitch when playing this map- to the east, there is a lot of space for wheat farms, so I built a good few. Then I placed a defence turret and gatehouse and loaded it with archers and xbows to defens the farms.

The enemy tunnelers were invincible, and ran up, placed a tunnel directly on top of the tower and destroyed it. I retarted the game and it went away, however.

Balance: 5

Perfectly balanced. You have to keep focusing on the attack waves to the front, while trying to gather wheat and save gold while buying troops.

Creativity: 3

A creative way of basing the map, on defending the homeland.

Map Design: 4

EXTREMELY detalied, beautifull map. It would have been a 5, though there was nothing I havent seen here before. (exept the glitch lol)

Story/Instructions: 3

Not too long a story, so it brought the score down. Good story, though.

Additional Comments:

Overall an excellent map. One of my keepers!
