October 1077. At the outpost of fortress Ghalien.
Days have been calm and under control for months at the outpost. Only few minor bandit
threads have been handeled within the past years. Today was not an ordinary one, a man dressed to a orange uniform was walking around the outpost, a bow in his hands. guards shouts to the wanderer that no weapons allowed in aroundings of outpost. "Hey, you there! no weapons alloved here, you go away or we have to force you to leave!" Guard shouts from the platform. The wanderer watches up to the hill.
Then he raises his bow and aims the guard, he shoots but misses. after that the wanderer tries to run away, but the accurate guards shoots him to his feet. "Enemy down!" he shouts the guards from the outpost run to the wounded wanderer. they carry him to the outpost for some serious questions.
They take him to the outpost leader called Michael Chrust. "I heard you were shooting at my guards, eh? why you did that?".. the man watches him with arrow in his foot and makes quiet noises of pain."Go to hell!" he shouts. Michael asks the man to tell what's going on or the outpost has to take the law to their hands and end the mans life becouse of hostile acting. The man still doesn't say anything... Michael raises and walks to the man in the floor, bleading blood. he put his hands to the arrow and rips it off from the mans foot. wanderer shouts from pain. "You will die now if you don't tell what's going on, we wont heal you!". Wanderer starts talking about why he was trying to shoot the guard, he says he was just frustrated and out of his mind. Michael believes the crazy looking man with long beard and says "I'll let you go now, but we won't heal you so your life is at your own hands".. They let the man out and he walks away screaming from pain as he walks.
January 1078. At the outpost of fortress Ghalien.
It's morning and sun starts rising up from behind the hills. People in the outpost are tired and guards almost sleeping in their platforms. but suddenly none of them is tired. they hear marching from the nearby hills. They see alot of men dressed in orange uniforms, just like with the odd wanderer few months ago. Michael watches from his keep, and fears for the worst. "Send a man to the Ghalien tell that were under attack, enemy forces are attacking and were outnumbered!" a man leaves with horse to ride to Ghalien to tell a message to the king of the state of outpost. a blue uniformed scout with horse rides from the hills also, he rides to the outpost and after that they close the gate and set the final traps ready. The scout tells that enemy is armed with spears and bows, and he saw few heavily armored swordmen also, he saw banners with a picture of rat also. the enemy is now close. Are Michael Chrust and his guards at the outpost able to make a stand? The peace is now broken! |

Wow, you used smallest size. Which effects will this have for fighting? Let's test. |

Hell, yeah :) The good in 160x160 maps is that you can orientate for seconds. |

Well i must say, this is a pretty well done and short invasion map. Even tho the map setting is very tiny, its full of action until the very end of the game.
Balance: 4
I can see the creator spent alot of time on balancing the game. For a player like me, i enjoy trying to beat a level on every setting. Fisrt played through on easy, nothing to special, i held down my fort and didnt have any casualties, played it on normal and had the same outcome. I have to say that hard was the perfect setting for me. i lost a few guys and they managed to destroy the gate. now here is where the problem is, their is a massive leap from hard to very hard. no matter what you do very hard can not be beaten >.< thats the only problem i had with the map.
Creativity: 3
well, it was really creative fighting a battle on a small size map. for future maps i would try adding some eye candy in the fort or something, its just a few walls and towers on top of a hill -.-' other than that good job.
Map Design: 5
Well i have to say, the map looks great. my only problem that i see is the river, i would add alot more rocks and some beach terrain down by the river ro spice it up a bit. other then that it looks really nice.
Story/Instructions: 5
Well, it looked like you tried so it gets a five. I understand that some people r better writers than others so i usually rate on how much effort the author put into the story.
Additional Comments:
Well good job on the map. try to fix some of the things i listed above and that should help you get a higer score on this and future maps!
Also Btw Akavir Part 3 will be out in about 5 days ;)

Thanks for the review, i will be ready for the next chapter :) and i don't think the map can be beated at very hard, i couldn't win it myself. |
