This is the next in the LOTR series,it should be the best yet.
Heres are some notes you should take into account when reviewing this map:
1)The cliffs r all meant to be in Highest mode, with the elves gettin Dwarves to cut away the rock so they can build a city/town.
------
2)play it on normal id say,but doesnt matter.
------
Story:
You are the fellowship, with Gandalf havin just ridin Frodo off to Rivendell for ergent medical assistance,u must deffend the fords from the force the Nazgul have sent to get the Ring from Frodo.Build quickly, and never forget you can fall back to the next line if need be,be strong,be brave, and u will prevail.
Could someone please review this, :-) |

Playability: Generally speaking, this is very playable. More greared towards defending than economic work. It's a map with different levels of defenses and the invasions are steadily larger as the map progresses. It's a big map with numerous areas that the attacking troops can breach initially. Pretty smooth all round, no bugs, only a little lag at the end and probably a result of the numerous trees that Ring Wraith likes in his maps!!
Balance: I have to say that this will apply to a number of skill levels. Normal is fine, a tricky map, but even with my limited skills I tried it on hard and found it a bit more frantic yet surprisingly well done. Hard gives you larger invasions and you will be pushed right back to the keep at the end. Winnable, but definitely better on hard.
Creativity: I have to admit to not being au fait with Tolkien, but having played Ring Wraith's maps I have to do something about it! Lifted from a story (?) or a scene, I may be wrong, but either way this is obviously well done all round. Those who have read the books and know what the names and terminology mean will understand this better. Not to punish Ring Wraith for my lack of knowledge, 3 is given purely on a good idea transposed to Stronghold and one that works well.
Map Design: Nothing wrong with this map at all in terms of looks, but appears a bit more functional. It's a curious castle and landscape that I like, very different from anything I would think of! Despite the rather crude areas of high cliffs (which I know the author has stressed are there for a reason), I like the crudeness and the little gulleys and open areas... it suits the map! My only bit of advice would be to add more features to the terrain, a few shrubs, rocks, landscaping tools, etc. It could look stunning. Still, what is here is fine.
Story/instructions: Simple, readable, interesting.. a nice introduction to the map.
In summary: probably one of the best scenarios I have played by Ring Wraith, I do like what the author has done and is trying to portray with the story & map design, especially. Another good map! |
