I am very glad to release my latest scenario, Battle of Hattin. It's a recreation of the battle hold on 4 July 1187 between the Christians and the Muslims. Some of you may know the story. For the others who don't or have a passion for literature, the story is on the archive. Forums map thread

Author's comments about scenario:
(you should read this for a better understanding of the map)
This map has taken surprisingly less effort than I thought It would need. I planned to design and recreate this battle long time ago but unfortunately I didn't have the time for it. The gameplay is not long but it is hard and I am sure you will find challenging to properly guide the troops towards winning even since the beginning. The player has at his disposal around one thousand troops split into more divisions: Swordsmen ahead, Macemen in the middle, Pikemen as rear and Knights in between Macemen and Swordsmen (also few 15 useless monks). The computer controls about the same number of troops, but Arabian Swordsmen, Assassins, Fire ballistaes and Fire throwers. The battlefield has tons of traps where you'd less expect. Your troops have full negative fear factor, and the computer has full positive fear factor so it's a 50% strenght difference from a "normal" battle.
Some of your knights will arrive from mountains a few months after starting the battle, as reinforcements. Historically that matches with the counter-attack on Saladin. For SH1 players who tried accurate Helms’ Deep concepts, the procedure is simple – Some enemy walls blocks the player’s troops on the mountain which are set on aggressive; the troops will automatically destroy the walls and be “released” after a couple of game months. If the… let’s call it… Knights-counter seem to be stuck, don’t worry, they will make it out of the mountain but with 6 knights looses out of 69. If you want no losses before they come out of the mountain, take a group of macemen and destroy the 3 southern fire ballistaes (which causes the knights looses)
If what I said sounds weird, you'll see what I meant after you play the map once.
The last mention about the map: As the map has reached full army size in the editor, I set 40 archers to arrive 3 months after the game starts. There is a small possibility for the map to be won just by them for normal skilled players. The skill requied to win just by archers is much higher than the skill requied to "normally" win the map and it is also very boring, taking over 20 game-years I think. However if someone manages to win the map just with the archers and believes it makes the gameplay of scenario worse, please take a picture of your victory screen and I will update the map with a lose time-limit. That does not include fighting with archers togheter with melee troops but entire game years only of shooting the enemy.
