Hi, that's my second map of my quest.
What to do? Simply survive in this castle!
Big, isn't it? Seems easy isn't it? Well...try and tell me if it is so easy...
Because is hard to defend, you have not so much money and enemy troops are many.
Story inside as always.
A tip: kill units quickly because i left you only 20 years of time for 4 invasions and the last has 500 mens attacking you.
20 years seems a long time...trust me, you would dream for some more time bethween the second and the third invasion and so on
To make thing easyer you should use a certain kind of unit, at the right time against the right units...
Last, please review or leave comments because i put some efforts in making this map, and hearing what others think of it will make me very happy. Criticism accepted.

Playability: 4
The map was fun, I like its style of gameplay. One must survive not only to an invasion, but several invasions displayed along game years, and the economy managing is a must. Maybe some events, good or bad would make the gameplay even more fun.
Balance: 4
You rated the map as impossible, probably you couldn't win it. However I find it challenging and hard. As I use to do with maps rated by the author as hard or impossible, I first tried it on very hard - could make it till the last invasion and narrowly lost killed by few of the numerous spearmen. Then lowered the difficulty level and could well win it on normal and hard. Pitch is a key weapon against the invasions, the strong & fast units take little damage even from numerous archers, and triggering the pitch can and will save the player. No trading possible, you could disable the market at all.
Creativity: 3.5
The map is one of the 'classics', few things are original, the most important of them would be the castle. The story is also creative, too bad it has only a couple of lines
Map Design: 3.5
To get a natural-looking terrain, the designed things must not be symetric or having any pattern at all. Secondly, you used too big tools, try smaller so that your big areas of rocks for example will look more natural. Besides the flat and empty area around the castle, all I saw was hills and forest. Like said, try to diversify the terrain, it also changes the feeling of gameplay of a player.
Story/Instructions: 3
Well at least there is one, which leads the player into this scenario. But that's the highest score that could be awarded for a basic story like yours. |

Some constructive criticism here (here we go hahhaa) :D
You see those hills you made? They were good and realistic. But, now look at the land around the castle. That's where you have the problem: it's too plain. Add some stones in some ares, or maybe add some shrubs and bushes. It will give it a more natural feel.
Now for the castle: good job. I can see you spent some time on it. But, have you seen a picture of a real fort? They usually do not have perfectly straight walls and 90 degree angles. They are built to suit their terrain. The moat in front of the walls is not shaped like a perfect rectangle, but instead has no perfect shape (if you know what I mean.)
If this is one of your first maps, I can't wait for what else will come from you :) Very good |
