You always get a completly developed large castle. Therefore happens nothing important in the first 5 years. The castles have the chance, to run fully, and you have the chance, to become acquainted with all functions. Best playable at 80%. Heavy freguented wooden portals slows sometime movements. Delete them, and it will be o.k. The castle is at a quite minimum of military power & oconomic resources. To build them up, you should remove soldiers from duty to get peasants and a quicker build of oconomy.
The events in the maps are packed in bundles. A starting event heads always to following events. They could be good, they could be ugly in the way of revolting peasants or little ransacking groups, soldiers, bandits, monks, wolves, u.a.
There are sometimes long spaces between the events. Although it may be boring, you should use them well. The times could be quite harmless, but there could be mighty armies also on their way.
You are part of the history of Hohenfels, a castle with a living history. Although it really exists and the map based on it, the map is not a model of Hohenfels. The History is complete fictional.
1095 – 1141 : Times of Troubles and Intrigues (56 Years)
You are Count Gemmingen-Sponheim (the rat) and you built Hohenfels to control important trade routes in the north of the Rhone. But you have enemies, who would like to control these routes theirselfes, even if they don’t to fight in a war against you. So peasants are uprisinglead by agents, and religious fanatics appear, devastating the countryside ….
Hints: Although you have good connections to merchants, your economic system isn’t developed. You could only sell stones, and you should stop woodcutting, otherwise you will have soon no wood in any case. There will be famines and starvation, you should errect enough bakeries and mills, although you have to buy flower and grain.
You should protect your resources, because later on peasants arise and religious fanatics appear. In the last years, you will have the chance, to earn money and satisfy the people.

My maps are more simulations than stratetic fights. As simulations, they are as real as possible und represents always the lifetime of a ruler. You are this ruler, and your task will be to survive the time. These times will be sometimes very peacfully ( ;.)) may be, to peacefully), sometimes you will have nearly no chance. But which castle hat a chance, to survive the great war in Germany around 1618?
With every new generation, the apperance of the castle changes, because people always do exactly this. The landscapes changes too, because the existence of the castle and the settlements changes it. I recommend therefore, that you are looking for updates, because the maps could be very different. The events of earlier maps influences always the events of the new one.
If a castle was destroyed und given up, you will find only the ruin of it on this site. But even as a ruin, the history of a castle don’t end. It will be blown up, used as a stone pile, etc. You will than find a map with last stage of the castle, a map of the ruin, pictures and the history in the packages.
