Map Size: 400x400 (Large)
Difficulty: Hard
Made with version: 1.2
Castle Lilleborg
Although it really exists and the map based on it, the map is not a model of Lilleborg. The construction is in parts complete fictional.
As the AI of Stronghold can’t handle large castles as an attacker very well, I recommend to take the part as the attacker. However this could be sometimes not so easy. Every castle might own several fortifications . (There are generally 22 fortifications possible, most of them are my own developments. But no castle has all of this 22, because this would generate invinsible castles, and this is no fun.
Often the generated army is to weak to conquer such a well fortified, large Castle. You will get therefore more bowmen during the time. If you don’t need them, delete them.
It’s not enough to kill the Lord. You must defeat all of your enemies, and this needs good tactics and is quite hard ….

Real History:

In the South of Danemark, by Bornholm, you will find a row of stones in the earth. That’s all what remains …..

1150 – build by King Knud. Magnuson or . Valdemar I as protection from the Slavic Wends.

1259 - I. The castle is destroyed in the fight against the archbishop Jacob Erlandsen of Lund
Source: C.H. Kibsgaard - Bornholm. Ronne, 1984

Defending: Very, very easy Attacking: quite hard

I think it could be more intriguing, if my castle – maps are simply siege- maps,so I will upload in future mainly exactly these.
But they are not pure siege maps, so be prepared. You Not only you are supported in the way of bow – men, your enemies will get support to. Wolves could appear, and, if you are the defender, your enemies could burn your castle down.

I recommend to play as attackers. The quite poor AI can’t handle large castles very well, exspecially if there are several courtyards in connection with high fortifications. The actions of the AI are sometimes more than stupid ….

And again, be careful. Some castles are very easy to defend, others are very tricky. It will be not enough, to kill the Lord. You have to kill all of your enemies. And the towers and buildings are build in several levels. If you, for example, only use trebuchets, could it be, that you can’t reach some of your enemies and you will loose, because all ways are destroyed..

It’s your choice, if you use a small or a mighty army. You can use the extra – bowmen or delete them. ….. Good luck!

Just a question: When you like re-building historical castles (which I suppose you do, given the number of such submissions from you), why don't you remodel them then instead of constructing fictional stuff?
And why don't you use a fictional name (instead of the historical one), too, when the castles are actually fictional constructions?

Not meant to criticize you, I'm just interested.

1. No, I use the historical floorplans, but they are sometimes very simple. And most of the time, the castles are ruins, and there no pictures how they could have been looking.

But, fare more important (;-)) and I know, some will me hate for this ;-))

You can't create historical castles using stronghold. For a simple reason. The elements of stronghold are typical english, typical for english castles of the english midlands or Wales.

Look for pictures of german, italian, tschec, hungarian, french castles. They differ, and they NEVER look like the stronghold versions.

Sorry: if you know the original, you could only laugh about the stronghold versions.

Therefore: I use the original plans und use parts of the original landscape, if possible.

But the result isn't a model, it is a nearly english castle, pretending to be german, french or something else.

No, it is fun, I like it, otherwith I wouldn't have around 100 castles. But they are never a model, they are always english versions of long gone castles.
and as a builder, the intersting task is, to be as near to the reality as possible.

But the result will be in every case stronghold and not a picture of the reality ....

;-) o.k.?

P.S.: You might know pictures of NEUSCHWANSTEINS, HOHENZOLLERN, etc. and thinking, I am wrong. But the point is: The Lords and Ladies of the 19 th century liked the english tudor and gothic style and so they rebuilt their englishcastles as german, often tasteless, versions, using old structures ......

oh .... äh .... it's exactly what I am doing now, but I don't need so much money ..... ;-))
Heroesflorian Thanks for your quick and helpful answers! :)
