Take the challenge that Lord Fletcher was faced with. Finding a land suitable to the King and protecting the valuable northern trade route will be a daunting task. Lord Fletcher has searched for many years now, and it seems that all may finally be well. Fletchers Point as he so lovingly named it, is strategically placed along the northern ridge. No trade vessel or enemy to the state would be able to pass this area without being spotted. Being able to develop the land and then protect it however, will demand a great deal of skill. The Rat, Pig and even the Snake have shown a great deal of interest in this area as well, and Lord Fletcher will not find his dreams easily met.
First things first... If you like a game that has economic aspects along with a good fight, pick this one.
Playability: Fletcher's Point plays flawlessly and it will be a pleasure to play it a second or even a third time around.
Balance: You can't say anything bad about this aspect of the game design. As your forces get stronger the enemy gets stronger making each new invasion wave become a question rather than a foregone conclusion. There is a good deal of anticipation and speculation spinning around between your ears as you build up from level to level. Are you making the right amount of this or that weapon ??? and are you placing your troops where they will be effective ??? I'm especially hooked on a game scenario that gives me that kind of a challenge.
Creativity: The most creative aspect of this map is wrapped up in its story and a map appearance that is a very, very suitable fit. In this case, I'd say we have a near perfect marriage between story and map.
Map design: Good sculpting of the landscape and a wonderful looking coastline are what make it for me in this one. It's a natural looking setting and it's just what the story calls for... Bravo here, Bob.
Story/instructions: Once again... I have nothing to say but: well done, Bob. The story is like a broom that sweeps you up and pushes you straight into playing the game. It held my interest and colored my imagination throughout the playing time. Super!
Over all, I have to say that this map is one darn good game. I'll give it my two thumbs up... See what you think, it might deserve three thumbs.
