1st Campaign - Mission 03 - The way is blocked
Mission briefing:
A gorge in the Alps, March 1275. The wolves are not giving you a single quiet minute. After the slaughter at the mountain pass, you are entering a gorge that resounds the howling of the wolves inside. You cannot turn around as you are suspecting that the enemy is tracking you. Put an end to the activities of the wolves and give your tired men some peace. On the hill, there is a small fort whose inhabitants have apparently barred their gate to keep the wolves outside. Maybe you will find some shelter there.
Comments:
Stronghold is not just a game. It is one of the best and most popular strategy games of all time. I appreciate the depth of strategic thinking Stronghold requires from the player, and even more, the world editor, which allows you to design a map to the greatest level of detail and reflect nature's beauty in it.
Acknowledging the great work many authors have contributed to the Stronghold Community here, I created a set of 70 missions to conquer medieval Germany. My aim is to give you a Stronghold experience that reflects the beauty of my home country Germany and the diversity of its castles.
The complexity of this project increased with time. Initially wanting to build 20 missions, I continued to receive more ideas and felt the need to express them in the campaign. Work on this project took me a few years, with breaks included.
The missions have been grouped into five campaigns and feature dozens of real-life maps, including many original German castles that are based on their original footprint/construction plan. The missions also include fictional maps reflecting Germany's scenery.
At 'very hard' settings, most of my missions are tough but feasible. Like in the Middle Ages, you will need to build and defend your castle wisely.
I am using Stronghold 1.41. |

Mission 01 and 02 were great, but I didn't enjoy this one so much.
don't know if the intention was this way: but you can't build barracks, I don't know why you can build spears if you can't train spearman, I had to kill all wolfs with woodcutters, hunter didn't pay attention to wolfs.
The behavior of the wolves was strange and imprecise, so I had to build woodcutter's hut all over the place trying to reach some, and there were some wolves that stuck on some places and rocks and never move around, it was a pain, waiting almost an hour trying to kill those hiding and not moving and I can't reach them by the woodcutters.
Just for that, I didn't like this one, but I will continue with the following.
Btw after some years some wolves stuck moved and I was able to win.
out of that little detail, the maps are beautiful and the dynamics are great, I'm liking these missions. |

Thanks for your nice feedback, mate. About the barracks, I must have forgotten to unlock them. Will fix this.
The initial idea was that you will need to keep your archers alive to be able to kill the wolves easily.
Strange that some wolves were stuck on rocks. Will look into that. However, if you're thinking of wolves somewhere in the distance on the map "behind some rocks", in my experience, those will only come if people or troops move closer to them. In other words, you'll need to go and hunt them (provided you have troops). |

Now reading your response, I realize that my mistake was I didn't notice those units at the beginning, the game started at the castle and I just started buildings and cleaning with the units I had in my castle.
I never commanded any troops outside of the castle, so maybe wolves killed them and I didn't even notice, lol.
From now on I'm going to take a full look at the entire map before I start playing. |

Yeah, sorry about that. Unfortunately, the Editor won't let you save a view of a specific area of the map if you already have a base on the map. |

Once again another finely tuned scenario, where you have to scrutinize the map's specifications; this will train your skills to keep your initial troops, especially archers, alive by hunting and chasing after the repeatedly occurring wolves. Quite a challenging game, in deed! |
