1st Campaign - Mission 14 - Inferno
Mission briefing:
Western slopes of the Black Forest, June 1277. The force of the attacks of the Rat in this remote area has been surprisingly powerful. You, therefore, leave Lake Schluchsee and move northwestwards to find a more suitable place for a fortified base. However, De Puce also seemed to be impressed by your strength. A messenger has arrived stating that De Puce has asked for a truce. De Puce suggests a meeting by the camp on the other side of the river, to discuss details. You hesitantly agree and move towards the meeting point. Suddenly, you smell smoke. A wildfire? Find a way to escape and save your skin!
Comments:
Stronghold is not just a game. It is one of the best and most popular strategy games of all time. I appreciate the depth of strategic thinking Stronghold requires from the player, and even more, the world editor, which allows you to design a map to the greatest level of detail and reflect nature's beauty in it.
Acknowledging the great work many authors have contributed to the Stronghold Community here, I created a set of 70 missions to conquer medieval Germany. My aim is to give you a Stronghold experience that reflects the beauty of my home country Germany and the diversity of its castles.
The complexity of this project increased with time. Initially wanting to build 20 missions, I continued to receive more ideas and felt the need to express them in the campaign. Work on this project took me a few years, with breaks included.
The missions have been grouped into five campaigns and feature dozens of real-life maps, including many original German castles that are based on their original footprint/construction plan. The missions also include fictional maps reflecting Germany's scenery.
At 'very hard' settings, most of my missions are tough but feasible. Like in the Middle Ages, you will need to build and defend your castle wisely.
I am using Stronghold 1.41. |

Great mission I wished was longer, I was so into it and then so the victory message colding my emotions, I was ready to enjoy all the iron there to make a lot of spikeman for first time.
I was ready to enjoy all the iron there to make a lot of spikeman for first time to deal next wave but is only one? the wheat was about to arrive at the stockpile to start putting out bread and the game ended before (I was using cheese because the first wave is quite fast, but exciting) I think the map is too good and well designed, great landscape, make it little longer so we can use it and explore it more :)
or maybe some requirement, like getting a certain amount of iron and a few waves that get more difficult as time goes on.
Don't get me wrong, all of your maps are great, maybe seems i'm just point out some flaws but I'm here playing the whole campaign and enjoying it. |

Thanks mate! I was thinking that it might get boring if all missions are similarly long. :D |

I also found it a bit unfortunate that the mission was over after 1 attack wave already, as most of the available economy was completely irrelevant that way.
Maybe that's just due to what people are used to, but it felt like you allowed a lot of buildings which there was no chance to actually put to use.
I can understand from a campaign progress point of view, but, well...
Also, for the fire escape part, selecting your troops and sending them straight to the keep and letting them run does result in basically all of them surviving the fire most of the time.
That felt a bit too easy. Especially in comparison to my first attempt where I had tried micromanaging my troops, gathering on the little ford lake to outlast the fire that way, lost some units that strayed a little bit too far from the water...
Really nice concept for the mission, though. |
