Notes

The first of the historical campaign missions is simple and introduces you to both basic combat and trade. You have 14 archers and one knight at your disposal. Nicaea is a small, run-down town defended by 10 slingers, 6 on the walls and 4 near the entrance to the keep. They won’t pose you much of a problem. Send the knight to kill the 4 slingers near the keep entrance and move your archers to within striking distance of the slingers, midway between the entrance to Nicaea and the keep itself. Once killed, the castle/town is yours and you can set about meeting the modest gold requirement.

Site your granary on the slope near to the fertile land. You should be able to place 5 orchards comfortably to generate both food and crops to sell at the marketplace. There are no invasions to worry about, so placing other buildings won’t be an issue. Build a marketplace and one woodcutter’s hut. Delete all stone walling and sell at the market, to give you 182 of the 450 gold you require. From then on it’s a simple case of selling the bulk of the apples from your granary periodically to meet the remaining gold requirement.
